Stefan Popa (1989) es un novelista y periodista neerlandés de origen rumano, autor de seis novelas y una novela corta publicadas por HarperCollins Holland. Su obra explora la identidad cultural, las comunidades que desaparecen y los lugares donde los mundos chocan, y se ambienta en los Balcanes y Europa del Este. Colabora regularmente como comentarista de asuntos balcánicos en la radio y la televisión neerlandesas. Su novela Si la adelfa sobrevive al invierno fue publicada en español por Armaeniae en 2021 y aclamada por la prensa española.

Si la adelfa sobrevive al invierno es una historia inolvidable y conmovedora sobre un hombre que está a punto de morir y sobre un pueblo que está desapareciendo del mapa. Un célebre chef de televisión neerlandés-rumano huye de los Países Bajos y compra una ruina en los bosques milenarios de Rumanía, donde la tala ilegal está destruyendo el paisaje. Lo que empieza como una huida se convierte en una búsqueda de la verdad sobre su madre, su país y sobre sí mismo. Het Parool la elogió como una novela rica y magistralmente escrita; NRC la calificó como magnífica.

Stefan Popa (1989) is a Dutch-Romanian novelist and journalist, author of six novels and a novella published by HarperCollins Holland. His work explores cultural identity, disappearing communities and the collision of worlds, set against the backdrop of Eastern Europe and the Balkans. In the Shadow of the Oak (2023) is Popa’s most personal novel. A celebrated Dutch-Romanian TV chef flees the Netherlands and buys a ruin in the ancient forests of Romania, where illegal logging is destroying the landscape. What begins as an escape becomes a search for the truth about his mother, his country and himself. Het Parool praised it as a rich and masterfully written novel, NRC called it a magnificent story.
